About Dr. Michael A. Chambers

Senior Pastor • Trauma-Informed Spiritual Care Specialist • Former VA Clinical Chaplain

Dr. Michael A. Chambers

Dr. Michael A. Chambers is a senior pastor, trauma-informed spiritual care specialist, and former VA clinical chaplain with decades of experience supporting individuals, leaders, and organizations through stress, grief, transition, and moral strain.

His work is grounded in calm presence, ethical clarity, and disciplined respect for professional boundaries, offering stabilizing, non-clinical spiritual care in complex and emotionally demanding environments.

Clinical Chaplaincy & VA Experience

Dr. Chambers served as a Clinical Chaplain with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, providing confidential spiritual care to veterans, families, and interdisciplinary care teams navigating trauma, serious illness, end-of-life care, and accumulated moral distress.

This experience shaped his conviction that effective spiritual care must remain non-clinical, ethically grounded, and collaborative, complementing medical and mental health services rather than competing with them.

Professional Formation & Interdisciplinary Training

Dr. Chambers completed advanced interdisciplinary training through Vanderbilt University’s Mental Health Integration for Chaplain Services (MHICS) program, developed in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This formation emphasized whole-person care, ethical integration, and team-based collaboration within complex healthcare systems.

He also holds certification as a Certified Public Manager®, reflecting formal training in systems thinking, organizational leadership, and process improvement. His background includes Lean Six Sigma methodology, informing his structured, thoughtful approach to organizational and leadership support.

Pastoral Leadership & Community Care

In addition to his chaplaincy formation, Dr. Chambers serves as Senior Pastor of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Atlanta. His pastoral role deepens his understanding of the emotional, vocational, and leadership pressures carried by clergy, caregivers, and community leaders.

This lived experience reinforces his commitment to creating spaces where those who serve others are themselves supported with dignity, respect, and discretion.

Healing Faith Institute

Dr. Chambers is the founder of Healing Faith Institute, which provides trauma-informed, non-clinical spiritual care across multiple sectors, including healthcare, veterans’ communities, clergy and faith leaders, nonprofits, funeral homes and bereavement aftercare, and workplace settings.

Through the Institute, he offers The Resilience Reset, a focused 45-minute spiritual care session designed to help individuals and organizations slow down, regain grounding, and reconnect with clarity and meaning, without diagnosis, treatment, or performance expectations.

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Chambers’ approach to spiritual care is intentionally non-clinical and ethically grounded. His work emphasizes presence over intervention, clarity over urgency, and respect over persuasion.

Services offered through Healing Faith Institute are designed to complement, not replace, medical, mental health, or clinical care, providing a steady, supportive space rooted in professional boundaries, dignity, and trust.
